Day 51: Iguazu, the other side

So, as I'll be travelling for a few weeks I hope that I can entertain you a little more often.
After seeing the Argentinian side of the waterfalls I had a look at the Brazilian side today. This is a tri country area where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay border (is that how you say it? sounds wired...) Just a short trip over the border to Brazil and a whole page in my passport is full of stamps... Finally this thing is looking like a real travel document:-)

Right at the entrace we were greated by a bird with a gib nose...

Noooooo, not you!!! This one... (Ok, this works much better in German as the German word for a Coati is "nose bear";-)

On the way to the visitors platform I also came across the usual suspects, Iguanas and Coatis.

The Brazilian side is smaller and has fewer waterfalls as the Argentinian side. Also there are hardly any trails. So from my point of view it's less attractive. Solely the view on "Garganta del Diablo" from down below is worth the visit.

Here, on this small island in the back, right above the rainbow, the film "Mission" with Robert de Niro was filmed. (Warning, picture taken the day before from the Argentinian side;-)

2006 was an "El Niña" year and there was so little rain that you could cross from the little pier on the left to the island without getting your feet wet. As already mentioned, 2014 was "El Niño" and the complete opposite.

Ok, there is another advantage to the park. You can easily pay with your credit card. However, if you pay with Argentinian pesos you have to show your passport...

Oh, and before I forget. If you're ever coming here, you'll get wet. If you want to avoid that, there's only one thing that works, a full body rubber ;-) The next thing to that are clear plastic bags with a hood and arms. Because everything that has more openings just doesn't work. Also as you'll be throwing the thing away anyhow you might just as well use the cheaper and less resource intensive variant.
